The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Holiday is a noted Day of Service for many.  Every year for the last 13 years, I have made the MLK Day Holiday a “Day On” and not a “Day Off”.

A notable Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quote is:  “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'”.

While working at Georgia Power, I coordinated hundreds of employees and their families to paint, organize, clean or read to senior citizens at A Friends House, Haven House, Helping in His Name Food Pantry and other non-profits in the Metro South Region.  Volunteering or attending MLK Day events is a great way to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This year, David Gill and I will represent the Henry County Chamber of Commerce as the Grand Marshals for the 2016 Henry County NAACP MLK Day Parade which begins Monday, January 18, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center.

Let’s make this year’s MLK Day a Day On instead of a Day Off.
